Job Purpose
Reporting to the Project Manager ,the Agricultural Expert will play a key role in enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and sustainability of agricultural practices within the project’s target areas. The expert will provide technical guidance to agricultural trainers and mentors, supporting them in delivering high-quality advice to farmers on crop production, soil management, pest control, and livestock care. In addition, the expert will lead efforts to identify and promote climate-resilient and resource-efficient farming techniques, ensure compliance with relevant agricultural standards and regulations, and facilitate the integration of innovative technologies to improve food security, income generation, and sustainable resource management.

Background (Overall Goal)
The Agricultural Expert plays a crucial role in promoting the sustainability and resilience of the food supply system by bridging scientific research with practical field applications. Through expert guidance and innovation, the expert supports farmers and agricultural stakeholders in addressing pressing challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and environmental degradation—ensuring long-term productivity, food security, and ecological balance.
Objectives (Key Responsibilities)
- Provide Expert Advice: Offer guidance to agricultural mentors and trainers who will train farmers and ranchers on topics such as crop choice, soil and water management, animal nutrition, and pest and disease control.
- Promote Sustainable Practices: Implement and disseminate knowledge on environmentally friendly farming methods, resource conservation, and sustainable soil management.
- Facilitate Technology Transfer: Help farmers and livestock breeders adopt new technologies and modern equipment to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Apply and ensure adherence to agricultural regulations and safety standards.
- Develop and Disseminate Information: Communicate research findings, technical information, and best practices to farmers, researchers, and stakeholders through workshops and consultations.
- Manage and Supervise Agricultural Activities: Oversee agronomy tasks and data, maintain records, and analyze agricultural progress to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare Agricultural Brochures and Booklets: Coordinate with agricultural mentors and trainers to develop practical reference materials for farmers.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assess the impact of the first phase of the EFSER project in Amran Governorate (Jabal Eyal Yazeed and Raydah Districts) through a comprehensive report.
- Provide technical support and guidance to agricultural mentors and trainers to ensure high-quality implementation.
- Coordinate with field officers in both districts to align plans and ensure approval by the project manager.
- Proactively identify and raise risks or issues that may affect project activities and report them to the project manager and field officers for timely mitigation.
- Oversee implementation of project agricultural activities, ensuring alignment with the work plan and adherence to quality standards.
- Contribute to the project’s exit strategy by establishing sustainable linkages between beneficiaries and local government trainers to maintain post-project support.
Outputs (Administrative Duties)
- Review news, reports, and success stories related to the agricultural project component and share them regularly with the project manager.
- Follow up on daily activity implementation reports.
- Prepare and submit a monthly performance report to the project manager.
Experience and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in agronomy, agriculture, agricultural economics, or a related field—or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in agricultural projects within humanitarian or development contexts.
- Proven knowledge of sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient approaches, and rural development.
- Strong capacity-building and facilitation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in networking and working with communities, local civil society, and local authorities.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles, values, and policies.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (oral and written).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
